Grade 11: Global Citizen Day 2
On the second day, students gathered after breakfast to start the main activity of the day: farmland work. The commanders taught the students how to use farming tools for farmland work. Although many students were hesitant at the very beginning, they learned first-hand about the hardships of farmers through practice. One student said, “This exhausting yet enjoyable work experience made me understand the importance of cherishing everything I receive in my daily life, not only food but also other tangible or intangible things.”
After lunch, GCD came to an end. The students expressed gratitude to the commanders and supervisors for two days of patient tutoring and took class photos. Mr. Nikolich, the only foreign teacher on the trip, expressed that GCD enables students to learn skills that cannot be taught in the classroom. Overall, GCD at Wusi farm was an unforgettable and refreshing experience. Through this experience, juniors had the chance to learn the hardships of farmers and cultivate a sense of responsibility as global citizens.
