High School Math Department: Math Contest Promotion Lecture from the University of Waterloo

On Mar 25, Rich Dlin, a visiting lecturer from the University of Waterloo working on Math contest development, gave an interesting and educational lecture in Xianmian 205 at lunch time.

Mr. Dlin first told a humorous story about his frustrations while studying in university to encourage the students to work hard in Math. Then, Mr. Dlin introduced several contest questions as well as special methods and techniques that could be used to solve the questions easily. He hoped to help the students think outside of the box to improve their problem-solving skills. The audience, made up of students and math teachers alike, were all fascinated by Rich Dlin’s lecture.
