March 25, 2019

On the afternoon of March 25, all Chinese and foreign teachers of grades 11-12 attended a special meeting in XMT 205. Director Liu Qin led the meeting and invited three AP students from Grade 12 to speak about their learning experiences.

Fiona from 12 (6), Katelyn from 12(7), and Yanling from 12(5) briefly introduced their AP curriculum selections in Grade 11 and 12 to the teachers present. With extensive diagrams and examples of their experiences in various subjects, they explained that interdisciplinary learning will not only promote students to become better learners, but also have a tremendous impact on their future professional choices and life development. Taking AP English as an example, Katelyn discussed the great influence AP economics has had on her English writing as well as her major selection. Drawing from her own experiences, she explained that the ultimate goal of studying any subject is to apply it in the real world.

This meeting enabled effective communication and interaction between teachers and students. The students fully expressed their gratitude to the teachers while sharing their own learning experiences and the teachers intuitively and clearly understood the students’ feedback from various perspectives, which will allow them to help their students further in the future. At the end of the meeting, Director Liu explained the schedule for the coming months and opened the floor for questions.
