Puxi Grades 5-6: MAP Test Orientation Meeting

March 25, 2019

A MAP Test orientation meeting for Grade 5 and 6 took place on March 21st in the primary school auditorium. Ms. Mariela Camarillo and Ms. Kelly Kraft delivered a presentation on the MAP Test, which was followed by a parent question and answer session.

The Map Test is a computer adaptive test that students take 2-3 times a year. The purpose of the test is to recognize what the students know and are ready to learn next. Parents not only received a general understanding of the MAP Test from the orientation, but also learned how to read the MAP report and interpret the Lexile Range. Teachers also use MAP Test results to focus on students’ specific areas of growth as well as to curate lesson plans that assure all students’ needs are being met. Our hope is for students to show improvement every time they take the test. Although special preparation is not necessary, extra reading time and vocabulary practice at home could be beneficial. Parents can also find helpful English reading resources in the parent’s guide.

We hope that parents found it useful to help students prepare for the upcoming MAP Test and improve their English.
