Pudong Grade 4: Fire Drill

At 8:20 a.m. on March 22, the fire alarm suddenly went off at SHSID Pudong campus. Thick fog and smoke immediately permeated the hall. An unpleasant smell spread through the air. Having morning P&B class in their homeroom, the teachers and students from 4th grade didn’t know what was happening but reacted without hesitation. Using their knowledge of fire prevention, the teachers led the students out of the classroom. They all covered their mouths and noses while evacuating. With the help of the escape directions, which are always taped on the doors, teachers and students got outside of the building successfully and assembled at the school gate. There was no real fire, only a fire drill without early warning. During this fire drill, the whole school took 2 minutes and 23 seconds to escape from the danger zone with no injuries! Though we don’t expect a real fire to break out on campus, the entire SHSID Pudong faculty will do their best to prevent it and prepare for it.
