Grade 10: IB Math Introduction Lecture

On March 18th, students from Grade 10 gathered in classroom 127 of the Zhongxing building to be informed about the new reforms to the IB Mathematics course system. Since the beginning of the year, IB Mathematics has been divided into two separate divisions: Analysis and Approaches, as well as Applications and Interpretations. A more subdivided field will give students a more detailed and targeted experience of study, but Ms. Liu Shan, the head teacher of the IB Mathematics group, warned students to be cautious about course selection and try to choose the one that is most suitable to them. Ms. Liu was invited to give a detailed introduction of this new reform, hoping to help students find suitable courses more accurately and efficiently.

At the beginning of the lecture, each student received a document providing a detailed analysis of the composition of the two courses. Ms. Liu compared the two separate subjects according to the different majors that they aim to prepare students for. During the lecture, the students asked questions actively, and Ms. Liu made decisive suggestions on course selection in a very patient and complete manner. At the same time, Ms. Liu learned more about the students’ course selection tendencies through questionnaire surveys in order to better understand the situation and provide more complete guidance for the new class of students.

Through this lecture, most of the students gained a complete understanding of the differences between the two new distinct branches of IB mathematics. Some also took this opportunity to make their final decisions on course selection as well as their major, making their future
