Pudong Campus:Fascinating Math Carnival
From March 11th to March 15th, Pudong students celebrated a remarkable Math Week. During this week, a variety of fantastic math activities and games were carried out. Our lower graders enjoyed math activities such as the Pi Word Challenge, Scavenger Hunt, and Sudoku, while the upper graders focused on more challenging events, like the Mathematicians Presentations and Pi Element Bag/T-shirt Design.
The most exciting part of this week was Pi Day. It is well known that Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th around the world. Pi is the symbol used in mathematics to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter—which is approximately 3.14. On the afternoon of March 14th, all of our Pudong students took part in the Pi Day Carnival with great enthusiasm. Students celebrated this day by creatively dressing up as mathematicians and experiencing different math events. People enjoyed a game called “Where is the Time” in Class1-1, which required a candidate to find numbers related to the clock time in the classroom. Some of our students chose to play the Math Board Game and Tangram in Class 2-1 and Class 2-2. Games such as Rounding Bingo in Class 4-2 required participants to calculate intensively in seconds. Admittedly, the atmosphere was tense when the competition began, however, all the students tried with great effort to get higher scores and win more medals.
Although Math Week has come to an end, Pi Day remains to be a wonderful opportunity for our little math enthusiasts to understand more math concepts, experience the glamor of math, and challenge themselves. Hopefully, they will continuously play more math games, learn more about math, and practice more in the future!
