Puxi Grade 2: Fun with Tangrams

March 14, 2019

During Wednesday’s Personal Growth class, all the second graders got to know the wonder of tangrams. Invented in China thousands of years ago, a tangram is a two-dimensional re-arrangement puzzle created by cutting a square into seven pieces. Using those simple pieces, people could make a variety of complex shapes. After learning the technique, the students tried to use tangrams to make many shapes. They made cute bunnies, colorful fish and even a giant whale. They each tried very hard to solve the puzzle. Playing with tangrams lets students get used to basic geometric shapes while also developing their imagination and creativity. We hope that the students had fun and found the joy of math in this game.
