Grade 9: Lectures about PBL & Academy Course Introduction

March 1, 2019

On Thursday, February 28th, a lecture was given in the XMT auditorium over the course of two periods to introduce the different PBL (Project Based Learning) courses and give students details about STEM competitions.

The first period consisted of short PBL course introductions. Students were notified that the final project of the semester was crucial for their grade. A number of the PBLs that were introduced will be helpful towards activities or subjects that students may want to attend in the future, such as Elements and Bonding Theory, which will be good preparation for chemistry competitions. New courses, like Micro Films of Chinese Poems, were added to the program and introduced during the lecture.

During the second period, an awards ceremony was held for those who had performed well in the PBL classes of the previous semester and produced praiseworthy projects. Following this event was an introduction to various STEM competitions that will be held this semester. The accomplishments of the prior semester were announced, and the teachers encouraged students to continue the commendable work that they have accomplished so far.

On Thursday afternoon, the teachers from different classes introduced an array of options for the students’ Academy lessons. There is Film Analysis for movie lovers, Investment Analysis for students who are interested in the stock market, and the famed R-TEW class for anyone who wants a boost in their English reading and communication skills. These are only a few classes offered and there are still many options for students. The students seemed very interested in all the topics and couldn’t wait to choose their favorite ones. It was a great success!
