Pudong Grade 2: ALICE Safety Education

February 28, 2019

Teaching kids how to protect themselves in dangerous situations has always been an indispensable lesson at SHSID. During Tuesday's personal growth class, Grade Two students at Pudong campus had an ALICE safety education lecture, in the form of scenario simulation, to let the student learn how to protect themselves.

First, the teacher told the students a story named "I'm Not Scared, I'm Prepared". In this story, a small ant was brave and witty in the face of danger by using the ALICE strategy, and then successfully saved himself from the situation. Students were quite curious about the ALICE strategy, so the teacher patiently explained the meaning of each letter of ALICE to them, which stand for the five things we should do when we are in danger. After that, the students realized that this method was easy to remember and practical. At the end of this PG class, a "bad man" burst into the classroom. The students tried to recall the ALICE strategy they had just been taught and used it flexibly to cope with the sudden "attack". Obviously, they successfully defeated the intruder and felt quite proud of themselves.

The purpose of this meaningful safety education lecture is to ensure that kids are not only safe in school, but also know how to protect themselves and ensure personal safety outside of school.
