Grade 9: Summer School Lecture

February 22, 2019

On the second day back from a fruitful winter break, ninth graders attended their first Academy class of the semester in the XMT annex auditorium. A speaker from the Teacher Advisors team introduced a variety of summer programs to the students and noted the importance of planning out a detailed, practical summer schedule.

The lecture presented freshmen with adequate information about exclusive summer programs offered at SHSID, ranging from computer science camps to public speaking programs. Overseas summer programs were divided into two categories: courses that offer college credit and non-credit programs. The lecturer stressed the importance of choosing a suitable course while considering different factors such as varying locations, times, and expenses. She then proceeded to list the renowned universities offering noteworthy programs this summer, such as UC Berkeley, Cambridge, as well as John Hopkins.

All in all, the lecture provided the ninth grade students with insight on potential summer programs and reminded them to plan a memorable and rewarding summer break beforehand.
