Grades 9-10: Opening Ceremony

February 20, 2019

On the morning of February 20th, 2019, the students and teachers of SHSID’s 9th and 10th grade gathered together to celebrate the grand opening of the second semester. Though winter vacation is behind us, everyone was still immersed in the festive atmosphere of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Between students and teachers, they all wished each other “Happy New year!” at the start to a successful semester.

At the very start of the opening ceremony, we watched a video on the great accomplishments we made throughout the course of last year. The director congratulated and praised every student for their hard work; she welcomed all the students back to the campus and emphasized that she is looking forward to our performance during this new semester.

Then, two grade supervisors motivated the students with their words, encouraging everyone to accomplish more by working even harder. The speeches of two student representatives showed the teachers that the students are all very confident and dedicated. The humorous video brought by the ASB then showed us all of the amazing activities we have attended together throughout the last semester thanks to the ASB.

The best part of the ceremony was the award ceremony. Excellent classes received all sorts of awards for their hard work and dedication; students of different specialties and hobbies received their PA awards as well as awards from varying competitions. Everyone’s hard work was rewarded.

In the very last part of the opening ceremony, the teachers delivered their New Year’s wishes to the students. In the New Year, they wish the students to be the best of themselves and that everyone accomplishes great things in their studies and activities.
