Grade 11: Spring Festival party for Xingyu Children's House
On the sunny afternoon of January 18th, 2019, SHSID G11 volunteers came to Xingyu Children’s House and worked together with the teachers there to bring a well-prepared Spring Festival party to Xingyu’s children and parents. As early as two weeks ago, our students began to practice their performances and prepare gifts. On the 18th, they came to Xingyu early to help prepare and decorate the classroom. They also wore Pikachu and Banana Man costumes to welcome each child with a warm hug.
The party officially began at 2:00 pm. Linda Lim and James Liu from 11(1) acted as hosts with the teachers of Xingyu. First, Principal Jiang of Xingyu delivered a New Year's greeting. On behalf of SHSID, High School Director Liu Qin thanked Xingyu’s children and teachers for their support and trust of the work of our volunteers. She then sent New Year's greetings to the teachers, parents, and children. Afterwards, the performances began. The children and teachers of Xingyu and SHSID students presented a variety of well-prepared performances. At the end of the performances, Pikachu and Banana Man sent New Year gifts to Xingyu’s children. Each gift represents the love from Xingyu’s teachers and SHSID volunteers. We wish Xingyu’s children a happy holiday and sincerely hope they grow happily in 2019.
The two-hour Festival Party represented the efforts of the volunteer students this past semester. While taking the baton from senior students, they have maintained their volunteer spirit and made great efforts to inherit it. Through volunteer work, the students also gain responsibility and maturity. It is believed that in the new year of 2019, our volunteers will continue to bring their love to the children of Xingyu with great care and patience. Let the spirit of volunteer service at SHSID last forever.
