Puxi Grade 2: Learning Civilization of Ancient Countries

During the 17th week social studies classes, Puxi second graders completed a stage study of civilizations of ancient countries. In the process of learning, they learned history of these civilizations, explored the basic information of the remains of ancient monuments, and understood the cultural connotations behind the monuments. During the social studies class on January 2nd, students made videos to share their research results. Machu Picchu in Peru, the Taj Mahal in India, the Great Wall in China: The students introduced the characteristics of each monument using fluent English, showing the magnificent scenes of the monuments in various stages of civilization, and also introducing the culture behind the monuments. In this inquiry-based learning process, students not only gained a better understanding of humanities knowledge, but also have an overview of world history. Their ability of exploring, learning, summarizing, and expressing were also enhanced.
