Grade 10: Course Experience Day
On December 20th, students from 10th grade had the opportunity to experience 11th grade courses. Each tenth grade student went in with curiosity and excitement at the opportunity to explore new classes that they never experienced before. The students were instructed to choose courses they want to attend next year, including school courses, A-Level, AP, IB, and some creative courses. According to their choice, students were assigned to 11th or 12th grade classes, in which they would directly get to know how the classes are conducted. This insight will enable them to choose the courses that fit them best in 11th grade and even 12th grade.
In the morning, all the 10th graders went to different classes to learn with the juniors and seniors. In 11th grade IB English B, the teacher started off class with a riddle, letting students ask questions and guess the answer. Through the active guesses of juniors, the teacher demonstrated how coincidences may happen and whether there is truth in the occurrence of coincidences. In physics, the teacher suggested that the 10th graders also engage in problem solving after he talked about a new area in which sophomores and juniors start off together. In TOK, 10th graders grouped up with 11th graders to engage in an artwork analysis activity. Through this course experience day, students in 10th grade got more knowledge about how courses will be given and related in higher grades, which will enable them to make wiser course decisions in the future. After course experience day, the tenth graders had positive feedback.
