Puxi Grader 2: Students Enjoyed Reading Chinese Books

December 29, 2018

From November to December, Puxi second grade students completed a comprehensive project: the fairy tale kingdom reading adventure. This project was made up of two parts: the reading season and the sharing season. The whole project not only allowed the children to enjoy the reading process, but also challenged their ability to integrate information, practice their Chinese expression, and use IT technology.

The "Reading Season" was divided into six explorations. The students needed to read books of six famous writers. After reading, they discussed the contents of the book in class. Reading with questions can make students more targeted and improve their reading efficiency. In the “Sharing Season”, the students were divided into several groups to co-produce a Keynote. They had to introduce the author, content, the most impressive plot point, and the overall feeling after reading the book. Students could use various methods to present their ideas. They could use Keynote to type words, add photos and videos, and add effects to beautify the group's work. In the second task, the students were asked to make a video, using clips to recommend a favorite book. They introduced the main characters and plot, and the reasons why they love the book. The teachers gave detailed requirements so that they can work hard to improve their work.

This comprehensive project trained the students’ ability to learn and explore from all aspects. We hope that they can think more, dig deeper, and record their reading experience through various methods while enjoying books.
