G10: MFP Christmas and New Year Charity Concert
On December 21, SHSID celebrated its 25th anniversary. Music for People (MFP) Club members brought that festive atmosphere to the outpatient Hall of Shanghai Children's Medical Center (SCMC) for its 13th charity concert there since the club’s founding. With MFP series charity concerts as the main activities, SHSID and SCMC successfully concluded their "Spiritual Civilization Co-Operation Agreement", which marks a new direction in the cooperation between the hospital and the school, which is also a milestone in the development of MFP Club.
Mr. Ma Feng, the Principal of Shanghai High School International Division, and Dr. Jiang Zhongyi, the President of SCMC, attended and signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties. Ms. Liu Min, the Director of Grades 9-10 at SHSID, Ms. Zhang Yueyue, the Head Teacher of Grade 10 at SHSID as well as the MFP Club Advisor, Ms. Chen Yuting the Director of the Social Work Department at SCMC, Ms. Xia Xiaolin, the Director of the Propaganda Department at SCMC, and Dr. Chen Yiwei, the Secretary of the Youth League Committee at SCMC, also attended the ceremony. Nearly 100 sick children, family members, doctors, nursing staff, and members of the MFP Club witnessed the signing of the cooperation agreement. In his speech, President Jiang recalled that SCMC was officially listed as the National Children's Medical Center on June 1st of this year and first appeared on the world stage, marking a new era for SCMC. He has hugely appreciated the good deeds of the MFP Club in the past two years and hopes that the MFP Club members can continue to bring comfort and joy to the hospital. Principal Ma affirmed the outstanding contributions of the MFP Club and encouraged members to uphold the SHSID philosophy and contribute to society with their academic knowledge and talents. Kingsley, the founder and President of the MFP Club spoke before the concert. On behalf of the members of the MFP Club, he sincerely thanked Principal Ma and President Jiang for their awards and encouragement. He affirmed that the club members will move forward and continue to contribute to society with their music talents.
The concert was hosted by Kingsley and Barbie. With the piano and violin ensemble of Kingsley and Grace, SCMC’s song "Blessing Spring" served as the prelude to the concert. The members of the MFP Club showed their seriousness and perseverance in their musical performance. The concert included selected famous China and Western repertoires, the piano solos “Lemon” by Sharon, “Flower Dance” by Linda, and “The Cowherd's Flute” by Kevin, the string quartet’s performance of “Praise of Love” by Grace, Antony, and others, the flute quartet’s performance of "Christmas Melody" by Connie, Grace, and others, the clarinet trio’s performance of “Polka” by Vivian, Andrea, and David, and the trombone quartet’s performance of “Amazing Grace” by Jonathan, Oude, and others. Each song was followed by warm applause from the audience. Finally, the club members gathered on the stage to sing Christmas songs and celebrate together with all 100+ members of the audience, marking the arrival of Christmas and a New Year.
