Oxford Global MUN - SHSID 2018
From December 7th to 9th, the fourth annual Oxford Global Model United Nations 2018 took place at SHSID. Gathering over 500 delegates and faculty advisors from more than 50 schools, the three-day MUN Conference was characterized by fruitful debate, fresh friendships, and amicable collaboration. Not only Chinese delegates attended the conference; SHSID was also honored to host delegations from countries such as Mongolia. Seven different committees--DISEC, ECOFIN, UNICEF, UNSC, UNDP, UNOOSA, CSW--each discussed profound topics still actively debated by world leaders today. Dealing with issues from piracy to child trafficking, delegates worked hard through lobbying, public speaking, researching, and writing. Innovative ideas were constantly brought up and honed while committees encountered many crises. Ultimately, all committees achieved effective and progressive solutions, cultivating the ''MUN spirit.'' Moreover, OxMUN made meaningful strides in changing the community in Shanghai through Home Sweet Home -- a charity for the homeless. The conference as a whole garnered 3100 RMB in donations. The SHSID delegates also shined in committee due to their hard work, earning SHSID a delegation award. OxMUN 2018 has come to a successful ending, creating many unforgettable memories.
