Grades 9-12: SHSID Parents School program

During the SHSID Parents School program this week, Ms. Liu Shan gave a wonderful speech on curricular selection and activity development in the high school Zhongxing building. This speech was aimed at the parents in Grade 9-12.

Ms. Liu Shan mentioned that the student university application process is long，so students and parents should begin their preparations as soon as possible. In order to help students be fully prepared for their application, parents should play important role in their studies. Firstly, parents should have frequent communication with homeroom teachers and keep homeroom teachers informed of any new situations so that they know how to help students with their studies and life in school more efficiently. Parents can maintain full faith in homeroom teachers and know their guidance will be quite helpful for the students.

In terms of course selection and moving up, students and parents should choose the courses that fit them best rather than courses far beyond their abilities. This will allow students to discover happiness and sense of achievement in their studies.

The independence of high school students was also mentioned by Ms. Liu. Parents can try to grant more independence and provide useful backup for their children. Students’ independence plays an important role in their high school life and future development.

Finally, the school and parents should do their best to help students to reach their full potential in high school, because they will face fierce competition from other outstanding students all over the world when they apply to universities. Students have to devote themselves 100% to their studies in order to stand out among so many applicants.

Liu Shan’s speech was quite inspiring and received positive feedback from the parents. Many parents indicated that they gained helpful information from today’s speech.
