Grade 11: College Counselling -- College Acceptance

November 27, 2018

On November 20th, Ms. Zhang talked about college admissions and what we should pay attention to while writing our applications. One thing students have to pay special attention to is highlighting what we did to make us stand out. Colleges pay great attention to “fit”. They select students who will feel happy on campus and contribute to the community. It’s important for students to write about the location of the school and present information relevant to the college. For some college admissions offices, the process starts with a community based evaluation, in which two people comment and make decisions. Students will be sorted into three categories: not fit (denied), waitlisted, and accepted. School grades, standardized tests, extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, and personal statement are compiled and sent to the college you apply to. Start early and prepare your personal statements and standardized tests, there is no time to waste!
