Grades 9-10: Job Shadow Day at the Dow’s Chemical Company

On Wednesday, Nov. 21st, 2018, fifteen students from the 9th and 10th grades gathered to go for a 3-hour tour to the Dow’s Chemical Company. The Dow’s Chemical Company is a Fortune top 500 Company, and has won various top innovative, scientific and technical prizes.

Several professional volunteers first gave students a brief overview of the entire company, including its several main areas of products. Then, students were split into 2 groups and visited the Research and Development department, the Analyzing department, the Gym, the Marketing department, Technical Support, and an exhibition of the materials produced by the Dow’s Company. During the tour, students actively asked questions and gained a clear understanding on how the company works. Through the trip today, students learned about how to apply what they learned in school to real life, how a huge company functions with thousands of people cooperating in different departments, and how simple materials are produced in our daily lives that unknowingly benefited our lives in every ways.
