Puxi Grade 4: Chinese Project—If There Was WeChat in Ancient China

Nowadays, WeChat has become the most commonly used social media software. People like posting pictures and sharing their life in Moments, as well as browsing and making comments on other people's Moments. If there was WeChat in ancient China, what would it have been like? Recently, native Chinese teachers assigned an interesting Chinese project to the fourth graders.

Firstly, students needed to choose a character in ancient China and explore his or her life and anecdotes about them on the Internet. Then, students were required to post something in their Moments with a picture in the tone of the selected character and design the possible comments in the Moments (at least three items). Students turned in a lot of interesting projects. We can see from their projects that they really enjoyed doing this assignment.

This creative project not only gave students an opportunity to apply what they learned in class, but also sparked students’ interest in learning Chinese.
