Grade 11: A Trip to YEMC

To give the students of SHSID an opportunity to experience a real workplace environment, the school planned a Job Shadow Day at YEMC on November 9th for juniors. The goal of the trip was to give students a taste of what life would be like after college by giving the students a whole days’ worth of experience as trainee interns. The four juniors who participated in this event were led by an employee from the piano department; they were taught about the structure of the building, the labor division, and the way things worked within the department. In the afternoon, the staff and students collaborated to plan two important events which would promote the company. After the day was over, students felt more enlightened about the future choices they would have to make regarding their majors and potential occupations. Furthermore, they felt better prepared to face the challenges that lie ahead.
