Economics Department: Professional Development Day

Nov.11th is the school’s professional development day. The Economics department had a faculty seminar held by Ms. Zhang Li, the head of the department. For the first half of the seminar, the teachers shared how they applied the method of conceptual learning in their teaching. They discussed actively, shared their teaching experience and successful class designs, and contributed a lot of valuable ideas. Some of them introduced their class activities on the orientation class; some shared how they used role play in their teaching to enhance students’ application abilities; and some prompted the idea of using guiding questions to show a big picture of the link between sections before moving on to more detailed knowledge. The second half of the seminar mainly discussed the various activities that the economics department would hold next semester. This included an economics essay writing competition, drama show, knowledge competition, and poster exhibition. The teachers believe that the various activities can better arouse the interest of students and motivate them to explore the economic events around them and apply what they have learnt into practice.
