Grade 8: Fun History Group Started Their Service Learning
Starting from Week 6, the Fun History Group started to teach the 5th graders of SHSID. We decided to create this club because of our passion for history and our desire to be helpful to the school.
After finishing our first PPTs, we started teaching the 5th graders about different historical stories, with brilliant results. Everyone seemed to be interested in what we were teaching, and they also behaved considerably well. They were especially enthusiastic when we offered them candy as a reward for answering questions correctly. However, we encountered a few problems. First, the questions we asked had a definite answer to them, and it was hard for them to answer them correctly without obvious hints. Second, we noticed that some 5th graders argued about who answered a question and who did not, which caused a few problems. Thirdly, we noticed that some 5th graders asked questions while we were telling the story, which resulted in some disruption (although the questions asked were good).
We have already reflected on these problems and hope that our solutions can solve these problems while still bringing smiles to the homerooms. If anyone is interested in Fun History, please contact Eddie Chen or Raymond Li from 8(10) via WeChat.
