Grade 11: Week 8 College Counseling -- How to Find the Best Fit
Grade 11: Week 8 College Counseling -- How to Find the Best Fit
On October 23rd, junior students had their weekly college counseling course in the Xianmian Auditorium. Ms. Zhang Nan held a lecture on “How to find the best fit”. First, teachers handed out a piece of paper which listed the social, academic, geographic, and other factors we expect in a college: for example, the size, fame, and the amount of international students. The objective of this activity was to help the students narrow down their university choices among the thousands of U.S. colleges and find the best ones for themselves. This is crucial for students because they only get one chance at college applications, so it’s important to have a clear idea and start planning early. After this activity, she let the students read through detailed descriptions of 3 different colleges to summarize features for each of them. At the end of the lecture, Ms. Zhang had recommended multiple websites helpful for students to find more information about colleges: Niche, US news, and unigo. After this college counseling course, students were able to identify the colleges they were interested in or not.
