Grades 5-6: Sports Week
Grades 5-6: Sports Week
It is no surprise that this year’s Sports Week, which was held from October 15th to 19th, had a distinctly new atmosphere. Fifth and sixth grade students played various sports together and truly captured the spirit of sportsmanship. On Wednesday, the grade 5 and 6 Autumn Sports Meet - also called Olympic Games - commenced. The school staged different sporting events such as a basketball shooting competition, a tug-of-war contest, and a long rope jumping contest during P.E. Playing games with classmates and homeroom teachers was loads of fun. Students became great basketball coaches in order to help each other, and everyone played an important role in the tug-of-war. Those who could not successfully do the long rope tried their best and made great progress with the encouragement of their fellow classmates.
Giving students the opportunity to play and be active in fun, meaningful, and competitive ways is important, not only for the goal of winning trophies or prizes but also for learning how to better interact with fellow students and improve those relationships. Throughout sports week, our school strived to inspire and motivate students to be their best by participating in various sporting events. I can say with confidence that every single student was thrilled to be part of such a wonderful, exciting, and dynamic sports week.
