Grade 8: Service Learning in Minhang Library

On the afternoon of Oct. 13th, SHSID’s Service Learning group officially began its first volunteer activity in Minhang Library.

There were five students who took part in the activity. The personnel of Minhang Library assigned work to us and patiently guided us.

Our first task was to organize the picture books in the young children’s reading area according to the genre of the books. We collected the books that were borrowed, but hadn’t been returned in time, to the book cart for the purpose of putting them back on the shelves during our second task. In the meantime, we also assisted the staff in maintaining the order in the library.

The activity soon ended. I think this activity is very meaningful to us as we can help the children to uphold a good environment for them to read and learn in a quieter, and neater atmosphere.
