Grade 4 Math:The Math Market
Grade 4 Math:The Math Market
During math classes this month, the fourth graders learned about American money calculation and estimation. This culminated in an interesting math project called Math Market.
Students had two missions to complete in this project. In the first mission, students needed to check the price on the flyer provided by the math teachers. Then, they needed to make a reasonable decision to pick up at least 8 kinds of items for a party. They would have a budget of $50 and had to complete the Purchase List. In the second mission, they needed to determine the sale prices for each item on the flyer by rounding the prices to the nearest whole dollar or nearest tenth of a dollar. Then, they chose at least 6 items from the old flyer and made a new flyer on which they needed to paste new pictures and tag the new prices for the items and decorate their flyers and make it attractive.
In this math project, kids applied what they learned in class to the real life. They put a lot of effort in making their flyers attractive. We hope our kids could learn math happily and realize how useful and wonderful math is in our daily life!
