Grades 1-8:Primary School Sports Meet

Week 7 is the annual Sports Week for the Primary Section. On October 17th, students from Grades 1 to 4 welcomed their Autumn Sports Meet with great enthusiasm and energy.

Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony began at 8:45 in the morning on the soccer field with the start of two wonderful speeches from Director Bao and a student athlete representative, Kevin from 4(3). Afterwards, the cheerleading dancers, wearing sports meet t-shirts and carrying colorful pom poms, made a brilliant appearance to the tune of dynamic music. On the heels of students dancing, the teachers performed Taiji Gongfu Fan, a traditional Chinese sport, which won the applause of students and parent representatives. Then, Principal Liu announced the beginning of the Sports Meet!

Different Kinds of Sports

The individual competitions for first and second graders included a 30-meter run, dribbling, and bowling. The individual competitions for third and fourth graders included a 50-meter run, skipping, and shooting. All the students put a great deal of effort into these exercises and learned to be persistent. In addition to the above individual competitions, students also joined in class competitions: Water Relay and Obstacle Relay, which required collaboration among classmates. There were also two parent-child games, the Three-Legged Race and the Wheelbarrow Race, which recorded the precious time that children and their parents spent together at the Sports Meet.

The Backup Groups on the Field

Our applause not only went to our little athletes displaying spirit on the field, but also went to a group of people standing behind them. Thanks to our support crew, referees, parent volunteers, and homeroom teachers, the Autumn Sports Meet went smoothly and was brought to a successful conclusion, leaving behind joyful moments in our memories!

Sports Meet is not only a platform to display the good spirit of our students and teachers in Primary Section, but also an opportunity for our kids to strike a balance between study and exercise. Sports not only bring health to our children, but also bring them optimism and persistence! Hopefully they can apply this kind of spirit into their studies and daily life!

On the afternoon of October 17th, the playground was bustling with noise and excitement on the SHSID Pudong campus. Everyone was so excited about the long awaited Sports Meet. Accompanied by the cheerful music, all the students and teachers walked onto the field in orderly rows. Each class shouted their slogans loudly, showing their great enthusiasm and energy.

Principal Liu attended the opening ceremony of the Sports Meet, while our director, Ms Liu, and our sports representative gave us inspiring speeches, which encouraged everyone present. After the wonderful Fitness Dance and Martial Art Dance by all the students, the Sports Meet officially started.

The students couldn’t wait to take part in the exciting races and events: 50-Meter Dash, Long Jump, Basketball Toss, Kangaroo Jump and more. The energy could be seen everywhere on the playground, as well as the positive spirits of persistence from children’s sweating faces.

Parents also participated in the sport events. Working together with their children brought joyful and unforgettable memories for the family.

Through the passionate cheers came the climax of the Sports Meet: the Relay Race. Competitors were focused with every effort to sprint forward. Winning or losing is not important: what matters is that we sweat and enjoy.

During the Sports Meet, the students not only demonstrated their athletic talent, but also brilliant teamwork and sportsmanship. Everyone had a wonderful day.
