Grades 1-8 Sports Week Series Report 2:Grades 5-8 Sports Meet
On October 16th, 2018, the 5th and 6th grade students strolled confidently onto the soccer field, joking with one another with a cheerfulness that only occurred at a once-a-year event. Guess what? The long since anticipated sports meet was going to start! With all their confidence, the students of all 18 homerooms presented to the whole section their wonderful march-in performances. After that, the director, Mr. Shen, gave a speech and encouraged everyone to try their best.
Next came the teachers’ performance. They performed very well and entertained us with their funny moves. After they finished, the students almost laughed their heads off while the big feet competition began. It included 4 teams from each grade. Students crowded the stands, cheering their class competitors on. They yelled “1, 2, 1, 2” to maintain a steady pace and not fall behind. Then, the track & field races started. Participants tried their best at every competition, earning their homerooms pride and glory. The long run events were especially popular. Students followed the participants around the lap, and cheered them on towards the end. Students also showed how strong and flexible they were in the medicine ball and jumping events. After all the competitions ended, we were all happy and enjoyed this experience. All in all, the SHSID 2018 G5~6 Sports Meet was a great success and everybody is looking forward to the one next year.
In the afternoon, SHSID 7-8th grade Sports Meet began on the playground of our school.
First, students marched in. The topics for this march for 7th and 8th grade this year were Chinese Traditional Sports and the Art of Sports. Students performed as a class, dressed neatly, and finished their performances in high spirits. The performances were lively and vigorous. There was sanbag throwing, a relay race, a dragon dance and more, dazzling the students. Some classes performed martial arts exercises. Students did martial arts movements forcefully and energetically. Everyone was doing the same movement without even one mistake. Every student was enthusiastic and showed us their energy. Moreover, 8th grade dances fully show the beauty, as well as interest in sports. After they marched in, students and teachers had an interesting match of baseball between students and teachers. Students were moving agilely, and the teachers were skillful. The splendid match received round after round of applause, and pushed the opening ceremony to its climax.
After that, the races officially started. First, was the 400m race. Then, there was the medicine ball. Among the different events, the relay race, which requires collective cooperation, was particularly tense. Students collaborated with each other well, using all of their strength to run. They also combined the race with friendship, and showed the great spirit of teamwork. The races came one by one, and the mood on the playground was more and more enthusiastic. The cheerleaders shouting, combined with the students’ cheering, formed an ocean of happiness.Sports make students the school life feel more amazing and more enthusiastic.
