Grade 8: Service Learning as Narrators in Shanghai Insect Museum

On the afternoon of October 13th, 11 of us had our first training at being a narrator in the Shanghai Insect Museum. This is a service learning activity organized by Eric, a ninth grade senior. And all the volunteers are eighth and ninth grade students in SHSID.

The teacher first gave us a general knowledge of insects, such as their definition, quantity, variety of types, etc. Then, the teacher explained the characteristics, habits, and functions of nearly 35 common insects. At the same time, he introduced many idioms and allusions about insects, which are professional and interesting.

Although the training lasted only two hours, all of us have benefited a lot. The training not only deepened our knowledge of the insects’ world, but also improved our social ability and cultivated our positive public awareness.
