High School: Students Achieved Great Success in CYBL Competition

During Oct 13th and 14th, students from SHSID attended CYBL, or China Youth Business League, a prestigious business competition in China that tests student’s critical thinking and public speaking skills through four different modules- Accounting, Marketing, Finance and Economics, and Case Presentation. This year, the case was on the duopoly and price war of two major bike-sharing companies in China- Mobike and OFO, and the case focused on whether if Mobike should acquire OFO or not.

SHSID had a total of 4 teams and 16 individuals attending the Shanghai Regional Competitions, and they awarded excellent prizes in the competition in each of the modules. They won the first prize of three models out of all four. Apart from that, other SHSID teams also placed in the top five in different modules. Congratulations to all the winners of the competition, and to all that qualified for the national championship, good luck!

CYBL was established in 2014 and is an educational platform for high school students to learn more about the world of business. Through a complete American style of teaching business, it aims to evaluate and develop high school students’ business talents and leadership abilities and uncovers great potential for these abilities. It provides typical case analysis and financial knowledge to challenge students in a relevant manner, deepens team spirit and improve students’ business communication skills. Meanwhile, the academic advisors focus more on business environment simulations and true cases in competitions to let students improve their critical thinking skills.

CYBL hosts competitions on the regional (both spring and autumn seasonal competitions) and national levels in China. Each year, it also invites tutors from top universities, home and abroad, and experts in different industries to give lectures and training for students, and to be the judges of the competition.
