Grades 9-10: Visiting Changqiao Street Nursing House
Grades 9-10: Visiting Changqiao Street Nursing House
On October 15th, the ninth and tenth graders of SHSID visited Changqiao Street Nursing House. They brought gifts to the elders there and were divided into two groups to visit different parts of the facility.
At first, the students were nervous and did not know what to do, but with the nurses’ help, they were able to start their visits smoothly. The students went to each room and gave each elder a soft bread package and a towel. Fortunately, all of them thanked the students and treated them as their own grandchildren. Some of the elders even asked the students’ names and took photos together. Very interestingly, one of the elders studied at Shanghai High School and another was Director Ni’s Chinese teacher. Just by visiting the elders, talking, and giving them gifts, all of the students felt very proud.
Even if the 9th and 10th graders spent only one hour there, it was very worthwhile, as they hope for another chance to visit the Changqiao Street Elders House.
