SHSID’s “Sinan Cup” Science Fiction Short Story Competition

It is now approaching SHSID’s 25th anniversary, and SHSID is planning to hold a Sci-Fi short story competition for students.

SHSID will be partnering with the Sci-Fi Authors’ Committee (Sci-Fi Apple Core) of the Shanghai Scientific Writers’ Association and the children’s publisher Youth Literature to bring forward this competition. It will allow international and bilingual students from inside and outside mainland China to participate by submitting their short stories.

The core aim of the competition will be to encourage children to explore the depths of their own imaginations by wandering freely within the realm of technology and creativity.

Submission:

Short stories are open for submission from 27 September 2018 to 27 December 2018.

Please send your story in Word document format to kehuanzhengwen@shsid.org

Please choose one of the six topics and write a science fiction story. Choose your own title. Both English and Chinese are accepted. (Chinese word limit 3000 words, English word limit 2000 words)

Judgement and Prizes:

1.The competition will be separated into middle school and high school age groups; prizes will be as follows:

a.Special Prize x1

b.First Prize x2

c.Second Prize x3

d.Number of Third and Excellence Prize winners to be decided

e.1 Most Popular Award for each category

2.Prizes and certificates will be distributed to each winner.

3.A team of science fiction authors, researchers, and professional magazine editors (including those listed below) will be responsible for judging the competition.

4.Prize-winning stories will be published in a short story collection.
