Grades 7-8: Tug of War

On September 27th, a tug of war competition was held for the 7th and 8th graders during the first CAS class. After the first bell rang, the students lined up neatly in the hallway as their homeroom teacher led them line by line towards the basketball courts. There was a smile on everyone’s face, as they could no longer contain their excitement. When the basketball court filled up, every class prepared themselves and lined up in an organized position. As the whistle was blown, all the students pulled as hard as they could. Students who were not participating loudly cheered on their classmates as the basketball court filled with joy. When the rope was finally pulled towards one side, and the other side could no longer keep up, the judges declared the winner and the grasps on the rope loosened. Yet, despite winning or losing, smiles never left the students’ faces. They cheered or hugged despite the result because they knew they had tried their best and cherished the experience of being a team.

As classes were eliminated, the crowd grew and everyone began to cheer. Whether for their class or for their opponents, joy was inevitable. The championship took place soon after, with efforts from both participating classes 7(10) &7 (3) as well as 8(7) & 8(4). The final champions were class 7(10) and 8(7). At the same time, the individual tug of war was being held On the basketball court. Students were exhausted but the cheers of the crowd kept thier spirits up. After an intense competition, boys from 7(8) & 8(2) as well as girls from 7(6) & 8(10) were named the individual winners. It was a tiring day for all students, but also an exciting experience and something they will never forget.
