Grade 9: Assembly – PA Lecture
Grade 9: Assembly – PA Lecture
On September 19th, the 9th grade students arrived at the XMT auditorium for the weekly Wednesday assembly. This week, Ms. Yu, the head teacher of 9th grade, spoke about the ASB elections coming later that day, a few upcoming college visits, and some interesting opportunities for students to get involved with. These included boxing and some information for the Bilingual Debate candidates. After introducing the 3D printing club and important documentation for TOEFL test requirements, Ms.Yu stepped off the stage to allow for 5 10th grade peer advisers. They came to introduce the PA program, a program that assists fellow students with academics. Through live lectures, online forums, and one to one discussions between teachers and students, they deliver great advice to the masses. For example, in the online forums, students can ask and answer questions, working together to help each other. With the one to one discussions, students can learn directly from teachers, which, of course, comes with many benefits. Additionally, they host a news group that conducts interviews with “excellent alumni and seniors” to inform students, giving them advice, study skills, and ways to prepare for the future. To end, the PAs pushed for students to join, advertising the benefits and including what they were looking for. They asked for students with determination to help other students, as well as passionate and responsible members that are willing to help the community. Currently, they are looking for journalists, editors, normal peer advisers, and more.
