Grade 11: Second Junior Assembly — SHSID Times

On September 13, juniors attended their second assembly in the XMT auditorium. The assembly kicked off with coordinators, Ms. Gu Ying and Ms. Ella Gao, introducing Teeya Lowe as the host for the school year.

After the introduction, Teeya welcomed the speakers of the day, Lelan Hu and Jenny Yu from 11(1), who reviewee the SHSID|Times. Lelan began by presenting the Editorial Department, which consists of News, Lifestyle, English Literature, Chinese Literature, Student Journal, and Sci-Tech. She then proceeded to offer detailed descriptions for each individual section. Following Lelan’s speech, Jenny introduced the Creative Department, breaking it down into design, illustration, and photography. Besides providing details of each, she talked about an insider’s behind-the-scenes perspective of photography as well as her personal experience. Despite the difficult process of using software, she devoted persistent time and effort into learning and eventually mastered the skill. Based on her own experience, Jenny recommended prospective designers to cultivate a basic foundation in the design software, In-Design, as well as a sense of aesthetics before joining. After giving their respective speeches, Lelan and Jenny encouraged those who were interested to sign up for SHSID|Times before the deadline.
