Pudong Grade 1: Body Wise

On Sep. 17th, 2018, grade one students in SHSID Pudong campus learned about BodyWise in the activity class. This is a program that is in its third year here in grade one. During the first semester, students learned about body parts, and what parts it is ok to touch. We discussed how to ask for permission to touch somebody (“Can I give a high five?”) and also how to respond when students do not want to be touched (“Do not touch me please!” and “Stop Now!”). Teachers modelled inappropriate behavior (grabbing arms, heads, etc), and students gave feedback about how to act in such a situation. Students also created a 2d body that students could circle to show the ‘no go zones.’ From this activity, students would learn what is appropriate physical touch and protect themselves as they are growing up.
