Grades 9-10: Scholarship Interview

Since the 2016 academic year, the prestigious scholarships for grade 9 and 10 students attending Shanghai High School International Division required students to participate in interviews before the Principal, who distributes Social Activity awards. As usual, this year’s interviews for the Principal List and Social Activity scholarships were conducted on the afternoon of the 30th of August. The scholarship committee consisted of director Liu Min of grade 9 and 10, along with the head teachers of grade 9 and 10, Ms. Yu Zhen and Yueyue Zhang. Many English teachers were also present on the committee: Mr.Pickart, Mr. Ingham, Mr. Pardy, and Ms. Hammock. Other parents, teacher and student representatives from grade 9 and 10 were also in attendance. Scholarship candidates’ presentations were mainly focused on academic achievements, social activities, and community service. Aside from their outstanding achievements in academic work, students enriched their school experiences by participating various extracurricular activities like USAD, MUN, China Think Big, GT Racing and so on. As well as the candidates of the Social Activity scholarship, many students mentioned the joy they got by helping others and being a leader of the community. One thing to mention is that many candidates showed the quality of their grit during the procedure. They walked decisively on the path they would like to choose, maintained hope and carried on even when there was difficulty. The internal moral they developed is going to serve them long time in their journey of life.
