Cultivating the Talents：IB/ AP Exams’ Results of the Class of 2018 Were Released

According to results released by the International Baccalaureate Organization and College Board, students of Shanghai High School International Division once again achieved outstanding results in the 2018 May International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) exams, bringing more good news to SHSID’s 25-year anniversary.

All SHSID students enrolled in the Diploma Program were awarded the IB Diploma (world average lower than 80%) with an average of 41.7 out of 45. Students also maintained excellent performance in the core subjects of IB, including Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay. More than 90% of the students received more than 2 points out of 3 from the core subjects. Among students from 10th to 12th grade, more than 300 students participated in AP exams on a variety of subjects, such as History, Literature, Environmental Science, and Visual Arts. This year, more than 70% of SHSID students who participated in the AP exams achieved a perfect score of 5, showcasing the depth and breadth of the education that students receive at SHSID.

Since its founding in 1993, SHSID has been through 25 years of progress. Behinds its students’ impressive academic accomplishments, SHSID is fully committed to its educational philosophy of “cultivating talents.” Through the combination of a multifaceted curriculum and a diverse set of teaching models, SHSID is dedicated to developing students’ comprehensive general capabilities, as well as individual talents, building a solid foundation for each student’s development even beyond college. At the high school graduation ceremony, class representative of the Class of 2018 gifted the school a calligraphy work with the Chinese saying “all persons of virtue gathered,” conveying not only the students’ gratitude and pride for SHSID, but also their best wishes for the school’s next 25 years.
