Pudong Grade 1: Mini Programmer

Programing is increasingly important in the modern world. To help them fir into our modern world a little better, the students of Grade 1 learnt how to program for their beloved character ‘Byte’ on their iPads during IT class. During the past two weeks, Grade 1 students in SHSID’s Pudong campus brought their iPads in every Friday and Monday, excited to explore the mysteries of the coding world.

After teachers instructed them on some basic coding rules, the students practiced alone and talked with each other whenever they encountered problems. At first, students felt lost when they saw ‘Byte’ walking randomly. But gradually, students were able to fix their own problems in their codes, making Byte go wherever they wanted. What a great step! By teaching this easy-to-learn app, the students are excited to to learn after class by themselves, and now understand the logic of giving commands in order to accomplish tasks.
