Grade 8: Chinese Speech Competition

On May 4th, the 8th Grade Chinese Speech Competition was held in the auditorium of primary school. The topic was ‘2018’s Hot Social News’. The audiences broke into rapturous applause as Ms Liu announced that the competition had begun.

The speeches were fascinating. Our young speakers talked about different social issues such as whether it is sensible to idolize stars, and the ‘Douyin’ and ‘Kuaishou’ apps. We could really learn a lot from their speeches. For example, when talking about the news about the murder of an airline stewardess by a Didi taxi driver, the speaker first introduced different opinions from Chinese internet users, then gave her personal view about how to protect ourselves while taking a taxi or a car-hailing app.

The speakers not only used dramatic voices but also expressive body movements to show how passionate they are, and their enthusiasm soon infected the audience. Every participant tried their best, and they all did a wonderful job!
