On the morning of June 7th, SHSID’s Grade 8 Non-Native level Chinese teachers conducted a storytelling competition in the primary school auditorium in order to enrich their students' Chinese learning experience. Whether through moral tales, fables, or fairy tales, the students prepared well and left their audience wanting more.

Among them, Piao Zhuangpei drew from his own life and told everyone about the story of ‘The Blind Man Who Touched an Elephant’, and left a deep impression on the audience. Though Wu Hailun was the last speaker and the audience might have been tired, his interesting story about a strong lion and a weak mouse was really got them thinking.

This event was not so much a competition as it was a show. The audience on the stage took every performance seriously, and were full of emotion, hanging on every word. The students show themselves to be excellent, storytellers. The competition ended successfully with the two hosts’ funny dialogue and enthusiastic applause from the audience. At last the judge-teachers carefully selected the first, second and third prizes. Congratulations to Wu Hailun from 8(1), Su Yuanlong from 8(4), Zuoteng Aijie from 8(5), Piao Zhuangpei from 8(10), and Dai Xuedong from 8(3).

This storytelling competition not only enriched the students' learning activities, but also greatly improved the students' language skills, as well as improving their self-confidence in learning Chinese.
