CAT Award

Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) is aimed at identifying students who have a talent for designing and writing computer programs. Each student sat a one hour paper with 15 questions requiring logic and problem-solving skills. Our students achieved excellent scores in the CAT assessment. 6 students ranked in the ‘high distinction’ range (the top 3%). They were Daniel Zuyuan Lu, Yuting Zhu from Grade 5, Yuan, Ivan Junior from Grade 7, Joseph , Xiao Hanbo, and Sophia Xin from Grade 8.

In May, Principal Liu and Ms Yan awarded the students. Sophia Xin said, “This competition developed my interest in mathematics. I was very surprised and happy to achieve a high distinction in the CAT. I believe that as long as we practice carefully, getting a good grade won’t be very hard. I believe that rigorous logic, which this competition requires and trains, will enable us to go further in the coming days. The most important thing from the competition is not the awards, but what we learnt from it!”

Congratulations! Let’s hope our clever, clever students will keep working hard, and do even better next time!
