High School Biology Week: From Fertilization to Birth

On May 31st, Mrs Gu held a lecture about ‘Fertilization and Birth’. With help from images and diagrams, Mrs Gu introduced the process of a new life from fertilization to birth in a vivid lecture.

The students learned that life begins with a fertilized egg, develops into an embryo, and then forms into a fetus. However, there are specific time points, considerations, and biological factors that adults in the modern world should understand. Starting from a diagram of the male and female reproductive system, Mrs Gu analyzed how a fertilized egg slowly develops into a complete fetus and then leaves the mother’s body.

The students listened carefully to the workings of this complex process, understood how difficult it is for a woman to become pregnant, and felt inspired to pay more attention in Biology class.
