Pudong campus: Million-tree Project Donation Ceremony

On the afternoon of May 31st, two mysterious people in green came to SHSID’s Pudong Campus. They had an important meeting with the award winners of the Charity Fair that was held on campus three weeks ago. The student representatives handed over a heavy envelope filled with donations to Shanghai Roots & Shoots, a local charity that aims to protect the natural environment.

Meanwhile the students also received a donation certificate from Shanghai Roots & Shoots. After the charity fair, SHSID’s Pudong division decided to donate part of the raised money to Roots & Shoot’s ‘Million-tree project’. The donation will be used to plant 1160 trees in the Baijitan Conservation Area of Ningxia Province. The trees will be planted in order to prevent desertification, reducing the destruction caused by sandstorms, and resist global warming.

We are glad to see that not only did the campus event enrich our students’ extracurricular experience, but also it made some contribution toward improving the environment. More importantly, it was the students’ and parents’ efforts in the charity fair that brought this positive change to the world.
