On the afternoon of May 23rd, SHSID’s Grade 5 Chinese native-speaking students launched the ‘Sanguo Story’ competition in the Primary School auditorium. The Chinese teachers prepared a question-and-answer volume for the students, hoping that the students would learn to listen, make notes, and think. During the entire competition, the students listened and took notes carefully. There were many excellent questions asked and answers given.

5(3) Angelina Lin summarized each storyline in succinct language and accumulated idioms for each story. 5(3) Yogo used his own talents to make a question and answer volume. In addition, 5(1) Guo Jiajie presented each story with some simple pieces of calligraphy, which charmed the crowd. The students respectively expressed their understanding of the stories from the theme of the speech, the main characters, the main plot and their own feelings.

They also expressed their opinions on how to make a successful speech. Some said that they would use body language to enrich the speech content, some said good speech needed humor, others said that they needed to understand the audience, interact with the audience, and so on.

After reading these questionnaires, the teachers were very happy because the students learned how to prepare a good speech, and how to conduct it independently. The design of this question and answer volume not only allowed the students to learn to listen quietly during the competition, to learn and enrich literature knowledge, but also to improve the students' speech level.
