On the afternoon of May 23rd, SHSID’s 5th Grade Chinese Native-speaking class held the final round of the ‘Sanguo Story’ speech competition in the Primary School auditorium. Each class already had a preliminary competition in their own classroom, and shared the Sanguo stories that they were interested in before the final round.

The theme of the S level contest was simply ‘Sanguo Story’, while H level not only shared a story but also needed to share insights about life through the story. The students on the stage were eloquent and impassioned. The audience also listened with great appetite. Some students talked about the ‘Chibi Battle’, some talked about ‘Jianggan Zhongji’, some talked about the ‘Empty City Plan’, and others talked about ‘Qiqin Menghuo’. Although many stories are familiar to adults, if you were at the scene, you would still surely have applauded the children's wonderful interpretation.

The winner of the H-level speech was from 5(7) Zhang Tianyue, the second prize went to 5(1) Yu Jiaqing and the third went to 5(5) Ye Jiayu. The S-level speech champion was 5(2) Shi Yong’en, the second prize went to 5(7) Lu Zi’ang and 5(5) Ji Kaizhe; the third prize went to 5 (5) Mei Ruiyang and 5(6) Zhang Mingyuan. The other students, (5(1) Li Weijia, 5(2) Jiang Yiru, Lei Xuan, Li Tianren, 5(4) Tang Shangyi, Yu Zixuan, 5(6) Zhou Yun, Zhou Wenxuan, 5(7) Yang Xuan) who entered the finals round all received the Excellence Award.

It is reported that in the 5th grade there was a text called ‘Guan Yu Guagu Liaodu’. This time, the unique Sanguo story was a good start for the students to learn the text. We also hoped that the ‘Sanguo fire’ of this event will allow the International Division students to have a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture.
