Puxi Grade 5: Open Day

On Friday this week, the 5th and 6th grade open day and talent show were held. The parents were coming to watch their kids participating in classes and performing in the talent show.

Even though it was a very rainy morning, the parents still came to join the classes on time. In the morning, each class had a morning trivia session to activate the students’ brains. All the parents were very interested in their children’s daily life at school.

There were some interesting events during the first three periods of the day. For Grade 5 S+ Chinese class, the students were performing plays about traditional Chinese medicine. Each play was produced, directed, and acted by the students themselves.

In one of the most impressive plays, a group of 5 boys were talking about Chinese herbal medicine. They presented it as a ‘herbal medicine competition’. Each boy represented a kind of herbal medicine. They introduced the medicines’ names and their uses. This play was funny because the boys used different voices and different tones to indicate each character they were acting. In the morning classes, every teacher prepared activities for the students to participate in. It was a successful morning, everyone was looking forward to an even more exciting talent show.

After lunch, the fifth and sixth grade students rushed to the big school auditorium for the talent show. When the talent show began, everyone was staring at the stage, waiting for the awesome performers to appear. There were many amazing shows. One of the performances was the Grade 5 Medley. There were 6 songs sung by 7 classes of Grade 5. It was amazing because as many as 40 students were singing together on the stage using their best tones and emotions. The voices of the fifth graders made the talent show’s atmosphere cheerful and lively.

Another performance was the drama of the ‘Murder at the Hilltop Hotel’. This drama went down really well with the audience because it made them wonder: “Who is the real murderer?” The actors played the roles of the detective and the victim brilliantly. There were many other good performances as well. The talent show was a wonderful time for everybody!

Although the weather was not good, the open day activities and the talent show brought happiness to all. It was such a meaningful day!
